Building Code Committee

• The purpose of the committee is to educate the glass and glazing industry, the Building Code Officials and to assist them in recognizing projects with suspected code violations.
  
• The committee will consist of the following members.
  • Jim Barber - ACI Distribution
  • Gary Jean - Vistawall Architectural Products
  • Gifford Olin - Alpha Glass and Mirror
  • Brett Smith - Universal Glass Company
    
• A TGA/NTD Member registers a complaint, in writing, with the committee and furnishes the following information:
  • The complainant's name, company name, mailing address, phone number, and fax number
  • The name and address of the project with the suspected violation(s).
  • Suspected violation(s) observed.
  • The name and address of the glazing contractor performing the installation.
  • The name of the general contractor or owner (if available).
  • The approximate installation date.
    
• The TGA/NTD Building Code Committee inspects the reported project.
  • If no violations are observed, the findings will be reported in writing to the complainant.
    • The complainant can (within 30 days of notification of findings) submit additional information supporting his claim to the committee for further review.
  • Findings of the inspection are reported in writing to the glazing contractor who installed the project if violations are found.
    • The committee will request that the items that violate appropriate code be corrected with in 30 days from the date of the notification.
      • The glazing contractor can either correct the violations, submit evidence of code compliance, or take no action.
    • If, after 30 days, the glazing contractor has not corrected the violation of found, by the committee or Building Code Official, to be in compliance based upon the evidence submitted by the glazing contractor, then the committee will notify the Chief Building Code Official (with copies of the notification sent to the Owner and/or General Contractor) of the suspected violation(s).
